Since this mornings CVS update I have not been able to
duplicate the problem again. :@)

Editing the preferences and then clicking the save button
generates an exception on Win32 with the latest CVS. The crash occurs due to
code in prefs.c

if (prefs.capture_device != NULL)

fprintf(pf, PRS_CAP_DEVICE ": %s\n",
prefs.capture_device); <--- Debugger shows exception here
}
prefs.capture_device = 0x00000001 <--- This is the cause of the
crash
Once the crash has occured then you can no longer open the preferences due
to the prefs file being corrupt. Either editing the prefs file manually will
resolve the problem. Deleting and having Ethereal recreate will not resolve the
problem.
