Guy,

Please read

ftp://ftp.cs.berkeley.edu/pub/4bsd/README.Impt.License.Change

As you can read "licensees and distributors are no longer
required to include the acknowledgement within advertising
materials". That applies to licensees under the old-style
license.

The new style license doesn't have the advertising clause.

BSD code under the old and new license is GPL-compatible.

Code issued under an old-style BSD license by bodies other
than UC is not GPL-compatible unless those bodies have also
issued a statement removing the advertising materials
requirement.

Regards,
Glen
