The attached patch adds a new utility called mergecap. Mergecap reads two saved capture files and merges all of the frames in those files into a third capture file. By default, it merges the frames in chronological order based on each frame's timestamp. There is also an option (-a) to append the frames, ignoring timestamps. (Note: when merging by timestamp, mergecap assumes that each input file is already in chronological order.) The source code and manpage are based on editcap, but I made it a separate utility based on the philosophy of distinct utilities for distinct tasks. Additionally, including this functionality in editcap would have greatly confused its command line and internal logic. I've done a clean autogen.sh, build, install and test on FreeBSD 4.3-STABLE.
