...but the private enterprise number is for Ascend (or whatever that
division of Lucent is now called), not for a particular product. The
private enterprise number for NetApp is for NetApp, not for ONTAP and/or
NetCache....

RFC 1700 is a bit old and, in any case, the HTTP URL refers to a
document that starts out saying:
PRIVATE ENTERPRISE NUMBERS
SMI Network Management Private Enterprise Codes:
Prefix: iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprise (1.3.6.1.4.1)
This file is
ftp://ftp.isi.edu/in-notes/iana/assignments/enterprise-numbers
so the HTTP and FTP URLs definitely map to the same file.
(Also, if you go to
ftp://ftp.isi.edu/in-notes/
and then to
http://www.isi.edu/in-notes/
you'll see a very suspiciously similar set of names, dates, and sizes on
the files listed therein; the changes are overwhelmingly high that the
FTP and HTTP servers at ISI are simply coughing up the same directory
there....)
