Thanks for that, as you said using the "2>" worked fine. How did you find that out?
>From my testing it seems the change came in around V1.6.0, it worked fine under V1.4.8.

It works if you redirect the STDERR like this:
"C:\Program Files\Wireshark\dumpcap.exe" -D 2> "C:\Program
Files\Wireshark\output.txt"
Note the extra 2 in front of the >.
I don't know why that changed from previous versions.
