From what I understand wireshark sniffer allow me to run capture locally in my machine, but if I have a remoter server I should be able to run capture on the server remote interface ip.  This is the reason why I am asking question because I need to get a good understanding on the product.  I used HP and snifer pro in the past.

what do you mean by remotely? if you are on a switch for example, your interface sees only your traffic.
