It looks like this person may have been unwittingly distributed a
patched version of ethereal including support for WiMAX (the filename
doesn't match the files we now have for the air interface
protocols)...

No Ethereal release I know of had WiMAX dissection support; presumably
the DL-MAP and UL-MAP messages just showed up as raw data, unless you
had a WiMAX plugin of some sort.

This might then be a WinPcap issue.

You might want to try installing 3.01:
http://www.winpcap.org/archive/
and seeing whether the version of Wireshark you're using can capture
WiMAX packets with the older version of WinPcap.
