I've been wondering about the tunneling issue too -- I'm looking at it now.  Interestingly, although ipconfig shows an ipv6 address bound to the network adapter,  wireshark in the capture dialog does not show an ipv6 address bound to the same adapter.

That is even more interesting. Can you please try the attached application and send me the output? It's one of the samples in the WinPcap Developer's pack, it lists the adapters and their IPv4/IPv6 address. If you have UAC active, remember to start the command prompt with elevated privileges by right-clicking on the command prompt link and choosing "run as administrator".

Thanks

Thanks -
No capture filter
No display filter
Lots -  a technical term - of traffic is captured
Just an idea: is it possible that the IPv6 packets get tunneled into IPv4? I really do not have any idea why the packets are not captured. Also, can you see the packets at the other end of the IPv6 ping?

Adapter is Ethernet

What type of adapter are you using? Ethernet or wireless?

Running the current configuration:
Wireshark Version 0.99.5 (SVN Rev 20677)
Running on Windows Vista, build 6000, with WinPcap version 4.0 (packet.dll
   version 4.0.0.755)

IPv6 is enabled on Vista (I can ping the IPv6 address)

No IPv6 traffic shows up in wireshark - no capture filters.

Ideas?
