My guess would be, that it is just oversight. It could also be, that the dialog takes significantly longer to load if enabled. But it would make sense to glue those two settings together.

Besides that, I can't think of a valid usecase, except speed.

I have network-layer address resolution enabled, and the Src and Dst columns show resolved addresses.

But when I do Statistics > Conversations or Statistics > Endpoints, the "Name resolution" checkbox is *not* checked, and I have to check it to get resolved addresses.

Is there some reason why this should be considered a feature?
