I guess you’d class it as a bug fix as it stops WS taking ages to open certain files when TRANSUM is enabled.

A non-core dev might be able to propose it, in Gerrit can you see the  "Cherry-Pick" button?  If so, click it and then in "Cherry Pick to Branch:" start typing "mas" and chose master-2.4 from the autocomplete list.  Leave everything else alone and click the "Cherry Pick Change" button.

Hi,

My colleague Jonathan has been looking at the performance of TRANSUM.  He’s found that master has the performance improvements defined here https://code.wireshark.org/review/#/c/24506/ but 2.4.5 doesn’t.  The 24506 change was merged into master back in November.  When will it appear in a Stable Release?

Thanks and regards…Paul

This is in a bit of a grey area, is it a bug fix, or a new or changed feature?

We have merged things into stable that *I* consider new stuff, but it's basically down to the core developers involved.

As 2.6 is imminent, it's all rather moot.
