Hi,
Since the 1.0 release branch is the last one supporting GTK1 we'll need to
keep it alive as long as platforms we support don't have GTK2 support. I'm
weary about feature creep though, so it's a tricky balance.

Which brings up the question what is the expected life time of 1.0[.x]?
and should some (limited) enhancements go in to it?
