Anders - Did Sebastien's revert fix the problem you were seeing?

Sebastien - I'm running into the same warning turned error you are on a 
newly installed copy of FC6 Linux with gcc 4.1.1.  It isn't showing up 
with gcc 4.0 on FreeBSD or gcc 4.0 on MacOS X.
