As requested in bug 12501 please provide more information.

For long captures, the recommended way to capture is not to use Wireshark GUI.

contains detailed description.

Note also that GTK UI is being deprecated anyway so no activity will happen on
it (if it was related to the GUI and not the decoding engine). It is being
replaced by Qt UI.
