Are you running the GTK+ UI or unplugging / re-plugging a monitor when this
happens?
The only time window placement doesn't work correctly for me on OS X is after
running wireshark-gtk. Change 15575 separates the main window x+y settings for
each UI, which fixes that particular problem. I don't have a multi-monitor
Windows setup so I can't test on that platform.
It looks like Qt can get confused if you unplug and re-plug a monitor, at least
while Wireshark is running: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-44213 . I'm
not sure if we can work around that.
