There seems to be more than one issue here:

    1) not being able to type in the capture filter box;

    2) filters not showing up in the drop-down list.

I can't reproduce the first problem on OS X, but I can definitely see the
second one - if I capture with a filter using the Qt interface, the filter is
*not* saved, but if I capture with a filter using the GTK+ interface, it's
saved - and is available from the drop-down list in both the Qt and GTK+
interfaces.
