OK so now the behavior is different, right?  Not a crash bug constant glib
warnings.

The glib warnings are probably because of the overlay scrollbar: IOW that
problem is a duplicate of bug 8988.  According to that bug you can avoid that
problem by doing:

% LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR=0 wireshark

Does doing that bring you back to the seg-fault (which still needs
investigation) or should we close this bug as a duplicate of bug 8988?
