Comment # 1 on bug 11097 from 
"-P" is irrelevant to this - it only affects what format the *capture file* is
written in when *capturing to a file*; it has no effect on the *dissected*
output when *reading* a file (and you don't have to tell Wireshark or TShark or
even tcpdump whether the *input* file is pcap or pcap-ng or, in the case of
*shark, some other file format, it figures that out for itself).
