Personally I think the original patch's intention - the abandoned patch review
6757 (change-id Ie9b7b221) - was on a better track than the current change.
Ultimately the Qt application should be stopping/killing the dumpcap
thread/process it opened for stats collection, and only when it's truly stopped
should it be starting another dumpcap for interface packet capture.
I don't know how to go about doing that, and no idea if that original patch was
on the right track to accomplish it or not, or doing it the right way, etc.
But I think that's the right thing to be fixed.
The right person to ask would likely be Guy Harris (now cc'ed to this bug).
