The Qt GUI is a work in progress that is not feature complete. The 1.99.X
installers come with both Wireshark Legacy (wireshark-gtk.exe, the GTK based
GUI like in 1.12.X releases) and the brand new under development Qt GUI
(wireshark.exe).
As Guy said, if it works with the 1.99.X wireshark-gtk.exe executable it simply
means that pipe support is missing in Qt. If it does not work, then something
is broken.
So please confirm whether it works with the GTK based Wireshark 1.99 version (I
expect it should).
