By "X.25 HDLC" do you mean the encapsulation described by I.555 section 5
"Interworking between FRBS and Recommendation X.25/X.31", or something else?

If it's I.555 section 5, is there any way to determine, for arbitrary network
traces, which of the three encapsulations specified in section 5.1 "Data
transfer requirements", or does that have to be a user-specified option?

If it's something else, where is that described?
