Running on 32-bit Windows 7 Service Pack 1, build 7601, with WinPcap version

Newer versions of Wireshark are utterly unusable in low color bit depths (256
colors/8-bit tested on Windows 32 and 64-bit) because text and icons end up
white-on-white.
Previous versions were fine. Don't know exactly when this broke, but 1.4.3 was
ok and 1.10.5 is NOT ok.
Attached is a screen shot collage that shows the "before" and "after".
Modern PCs default to 32-bit true color graphics locally, but 256-color is
widely used to make remote desktops quicker and less bandwidth hungry. Hey,
even 16-color modes are used, and there's no reason Wireshark needs thousands
of colors even with colorized packet lists.
Note: If you want to test this with hardware and/or a Remote Desktop client
that doesn't let you set low color depth, save the .rdp file, open it in a text
editor and set "session bpp:i:8". Note also that on Windows 7 you don't want an
aero theme with 256 colors; choose something like the Windows Classic theme
instead. This happens automatically when you connect an 8-bit Remote Desktop
session.
