Comment # 1 on bug 8709 from 
Wireshark doesn't allow you do do an "Export Specified Packets" that will
overwrite the current capture file (and might never do so - the file needs to
stick around as the "current set of packets", so we'd have to rename it out of
the way first; Wireshark does *NOT* read all the packets into memory).

"Save As", however, should be possible, as it won't lose packets.
