on bug 8279
from Michal Labedzki
Well, if you do not like "Wireshark as hex editor" than is exactly the same as
"This never will be Wireshark functionality"? If something is not needed by you
may be wish by a lot of people (for example: me). You may do not use it. But is
not comfortable to you open some files as text/binary in Wireshark?
You ask about PNG, JPG, etc support. If I have some free time I will update
support for them (full support of: PNG, JPG, DBUS...), so Wireshark will be
better than those (old) programs. Also I like one protocol analyzer than
three/ten...
> Can HFP can be recognized heuristically?
This one can be (greater costs than benefit), but for DUN and other customized
interface is notr possible - need human action.
One note from me: "heuristically" - this always need "manually" way to do that,
because heuristic is not always correct.

"Education, Analysis, Software and Communications Protocol Development"
Not only network protocols, so I will be interesting in this area.
>> In future Wireshark will support everything, wont't it?
> I certainly hope it won't.
If Wireshark leader say "Yes" - I will do that. It is easy to do. Very
difficult moment is only now - when somebody code waiting like this one.
(waiting and rebasing...).
By the way: did you try open text file and binary file with Wireshark? Please
do that.
