Requisite casts, and removal of abuse of enums, checked in as r48717.
And, yes, for further bugs of this sort, please give the version of the C
compiler you're using, the version of the Linux kernel on the machine on which
you're building this, and the versions (yes, versions, plural) of the netlink
library you have installed *and* whatever developer packages you have installed
for it. Our Ubuntu 12.04 buildbot doesn't appear to have the developer
packages for netlink installed, so it's not building the code in question, so
it's not detecting the problem.
