My OSX machine has four interfaces by default.  

Without the change proposed in Comment 4 but using GTK2 the initial size of the
Capture Interfaces dialog opens only big enough to show the first interface
with both the OSX Buildbot version and a locally jhbuild based version of
Wireshark. 

With the change proposed in Comment 4 applied the Capture Interfaces dialog
opens up large enough to display all four interfaces. 

Interestingly if I add an additional (5th) interface by plugging in a USB based
ethernet adapter then the Capture Interfaces dialog opens up large enough to
display all 5 interfaces whether or not the the Comment 4 change is applied.
