OK, it's been awhile since this bug was filed, but it is now possible to change
the column widths; they just aren't saved. The same is true for Endpoint Lists
(and others).
I don't see this as something that will change though, so I'm closing this bug
as FIXED, since both 1 & 2(a) have been fixed since the bug was filed. I'd put
2(b), i.e, "saving the conversation list widths" into the "Wont fix" category.
If someone disagrees and thinks that saving these column widths would be a
feature worth adding at some point, then feel free to reopen the bug.
