I can not reproduce this. If you look at your Wireshark preference file, what
setting is assigned to gui.filter_toolbar_show_in_statusbar? For me, when the
filter toolbar placement is set to, "Below the main toolbar", that preference
looks like:
# Place filter toolbar inside the statusbar?
# TRUE or FALSE (case-insensitive).
#gui.filter_toolbar_show_in_statusbar: FALSE
... and when it's set to, "Insert into statusbar", it looks like:
# Place filter toolbar inside the statusbar?
# TRUE or FALSE (case-insensitive).
gui.filter_toolbar_show_in_statusbar: TRUE
Find your preference file via Help -> About Wireshark -> Folders -> Personal
configuration (double-click) -> preferences.
