Steps to reproduce:
- open Capture Options dialog
- try to enter "ip host 123" as Capture Filter
Result:
- the wireshark UI hangs for 5 secs (when typing an IP) or 30 secs (when typing
a hostname), the mouse pointer disappears
- Alt-Tab to other applications, etc still works
It feels like a synchronous resolve is taking place, causing the UI to hang.
This doesn't happen on wireshark-1.7, or on linux (1.6.2). I haven't yet tried
older versions on windows, or other windowses except win7.
It also doesn't happen when I enter capture filters that don't contain "ip
host...".
