PortAudio V19-devel (built Aug 18 2011 10:09:53), without AirPcap.
Running on Linux 3.1.0-ojab, with locale en_RU.UTF-8, with libpcap version
1.1.1, with libz 1.2.5, GnuTLS 2.12.3, Gcrypt 1.4.6.
Built using gcc 4.6.1.

As of r37736 mergecap, tshark, and editcap write pcap-ng files by default, but
there is `default capture file format is B<libpcap> format` and so on in man
pages.
There is also plenty of places with something like "Data read from pipes must
be in standard libpcap format.", but I'm sure that other supported capture
formats is also allowed.
