When upgrading from 1.4.3 to 1.6.2 in 10.5.8 I had problems with bpf
permissions.
I noticed that ChmodBPF is different.
In 1.4.3 it issues the following commands
chgrp admin /dev/bpf*
chmod g+rw /dev/bpf*
In 1.6.2 it issues the following commands
chgrp access_bpf /dev/bpf*
chmod g+rw /dev/bpf*
The group access_bpf is not added by the Wireshark installer.
