First, kudos to all the developers and contributors to a great product.
Right now Wireshark decodes 802.11 management frame tag ID 221 as "Vendor
Specifc : Microsof: WME" While this text is probably consistent with other
Vendor tag IDs because of the OUI, this representation is not intuitive. For
one thing, this is not really a Microsoft element (though their OUI was
borrowed), it is a Wi-Fi Alliance element. It is a WMM (or WME if you want)
element.
Wildpackets OMNI Peek has this right for intuitiveness: They call this element
simply "WMM" which is exactly what I would be looking for when checking for WMM
settings in the 802.11 packet. I would not be looking for "Vendor Specific:
Microsf". I am attaching a screenshot of the OminPeek product for comparison.
Kind regards,
Kenneth
