I understand that there's not an obvious solution and I already commented in
bug https://bugs.wireshark.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=4456 (where a proposed
change attempts to resolve the uniqueness issue). But there are a few
characters commonly occurring in HTTP URLs that could be substituted to make a
big improvement in the functionality, e.g. "?" as in
"/pics.asp?image=dsc00001.jpg"
The problem mainly arises from trying to save the full URL as a filename and
this is hard to avoid. The substitution could be made platform specific. I
don't think people could complain that you're no longer saving the actual
filename as you never would have been anyway and at the moment nothing at all
is saved!
