Anders-- Thanks for bring that up. I thought it would be redundant to show the
version in the body of the Welcome screen and also in the title bar.
Chris-- If you open a capture and the version still doesn't show in the title,
the 'gui.window_title' shouldn't have anything to do with the problem. It must
have something to do with the gui_version_in_start_page preference because it's
the boolean that's tested in main.c. Try this: terminate all Wireshark
instances, change the name of your preferences file, and start up Wireshark. If
you've set up Configuration profiles and your are not using the "Default"
profile, you'll need to instead change the name of the preferences file in
...Wireshark\profiles. This has bitten me! When you bring up Wireshark and
open a capture, the 'Welcome screen shows version' will be set to TRUE by
default so you should see the version displayed in the title bar immediately. I
ran a test like this and it worked fine.
