By "Incoming Connections" do you mean that something connected *to* your XP
box, rather than your XP box having dialed-up/logged in with PPPoE/set up a VPN
connection/etc. to connect to some *other* machine?

What happens if you download WinDump:

    http://www.winpcap.org/windump/install/default.htm

and run it with the "-D" flag when there's a PPP connection established?
