I've been having the exact same crashes pretty consistently since upgrading to
Snow Leopard, with various Wireshark release revs.
I haven't tried self-built versions (since loading 10.6, haven't taken the time
to fool with getting all the libraries set up again, and Fink and Macports have
been...problematic). I've been using the auto-generated builds.
The problem's somewhat random, although it always crashes at the same point in
my traces. It's certainly not directly about the AMOUNT of RAM allocated. I
can watch Wireshark (sometimes) grow to 200MB allocated with no problems.
Sometimes it crashes after 60MB. And I'm used to regularly opening traces that
might require 1GB+ allocated on this box, with no problems.
Same WS versions on 10.5 seem to run okay.
