Summary: Wireshark 1.2.2 and 1.3.0 do not run after installation
                    (Vista 64-bit)
           Product: Wireshark
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: x86-64
        OS/Version: Windows Vista
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Major
          Priority: Low
         Component: Wireshark
        AssignedTo: wireshark-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
        ReportedBy: juha.laine@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Build Information:
Wireshark v1.2.2 (64-bit version in Vista x64)
Wireshark v1.3.0 (64-bit version in Vista x64)
--
Downloaded both versions (1.2.2 and 1.3.0) from the official site. I tried 1st
the stable version 1.2.2 and it installed fine, but could not run the
executable! Then uninstalled that version and moved to the 1.3.0 - with same
problems. Both of them install without errors but can not execute either of
them after that.

Wireshark.exe fails to start with Windows error:
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click OK to
terminate the application"

I run them with the sxstrace.exe utility, that gave me following log:

=================

Almost similar message can be found from the Event Viewer: Application logs.

Haven't tried the 32bit versions (yet), but these native 64-bit versions seem
to have some sort of DLL version mismatch problem. I hope you can fix the
installation packages soon.

Yours truly:
Juha Laine, Finland
