I am requesting that a new bootp field be added which returns the value of
Option 12; "Hostname" in ascii.
>From Wireshark decode:
Option: (t=12,l=12) Host Name = "HST-NAME-123"
I suggest that the field be called bootp.hostname
This would be useful in tshark captures where the hostname could be listed
along with the src MAC address:
tshark -i 4 -t a -f "port 67 or 68" -T fields -e eth.src -e bootp.hostname
I would like use this to listen to a "Guest" VLAN for MAC addresses that are
not already added to the authorization database in a mac-authentication
environment.
The bootp.fqdn.name is not present until after an IP address is already
assigned.
