--- Comment #5 from Jim Young <jyoung@xxxxxxx> 2009-03-14 20:03:06 PDT ---
I have been able to replicate this problem on two different XP SP2 machines
with two different versions of Wireshark: Release build Version 1.0.6 (SVN Rev
27387) and with very recent development build Version 1.1.3-SVN-27719 (SVN Rev
27719).

The problem appears to happen when "Update list of packets in real time" is
enabled, and "Use multiple files" is enabled, and Wireshark is minimized when
the Wireshark GUI closes one file and opens the next file.

When Wireshark is later un-minimized one or more "Closing File! Please wait."
windows will appear, one for each file close/open operation that the Wireshark
GUI attempted while minimized.

Oddly, these normally fleeting "Closing File! Please wait." windows are NOT
well-formed. They have no border, no title bar nor any widget to dismiss them.

One possible workaround for this problem is to simply disable the "Update list
of packets in real time" option IF the "Use multiple files" option is enabled.

Another workaround is to avoid minimizing Wireshark when "Use multiple files"
is enabled.

Note: It is possible to shutdown Wireshark somewhat gracefully if this problem
should happen by setting the User Interface preference "Open a console window"
to "Always (debugging)". Then if this problem happens simply click on the
"Close" widget located on the Wireshark Debug Console's window title bar. The
debug console will respond to the "close" request and will display the message
"Press any key to exit". Press a key and Wireshark should close.
