I tried to make my status-bar disappear, but I could not reproduce your issue.
Could you try temporarily moving the directory with all the Wireshark settings
to verify that it is not some setting that is causing this issue? The settings
can be found at "C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Wireshark".
Please close all Wireshark instances and rename the directory to
Wireshark-backup or something and then restart Wireshark.
If this does fix the issue, could you provide us with the contents of the
directory to pinpoint the setting that is causing the issue?
If it did not solve the issue, could you attach a screenshot to this bug-report
(when "view | statusbar" is indeed selected).
