B.A.T.M.A.N. is a UDP based protocol for finding routes between notes (+bcast
and vis packets) and sending packets to internet gateways. So it will only work
with IP based stuff.
B.A.T.M.A.N. Advanced is a Layer 2 protocol (simple ethernet, but better suited
for wireless stuff) for sending raw ethernet packets over a mesh network. Here
you can send everything in a ethernet frame over B.A.T.M.A.N. Advanced and
receive it somewhere else in the mesh network. This makes it possible to
autoconfigurate your notes with dhcp instead of setting it nodes manually and
not being able to play C&C over it (not ip based). It is relative experimental
at the moment...
