Regarding 2:
"if SSL_LIBS is set to a non-empty string, we remove -lcrypto from KRB5_LIBS
and replace it with SSL_LIBS", so dropping openssl completely (without any
changes) is already possible without any effort if you either don't compile
with MIT Kerberos or your version of MIT Kerberos doesn't require -lcrypto; or
the other way round: --with-ssl is only required if your version of Kerberos
would *automatically* bring in the openssl libs.
Regarding 1:
Which part of "We don't want to built with it by default, due to annoying
license incompatibilities between the OpenSSL license and the GPL" do you
consider as being "old and not useful any more"? Have the GPL (v2) or the
openssl license changed in the last few years to resolve this issue?
Feel free to reopen again (as you have already done before) if you think that
any of my points above are wrong.
