Hello Bill,
Nice catch regarding the GTK and Glib versions. Since I was too focused on
looking for source level changes in the gtk folder that could explain the
crashes I totally missed the difference in libraries! (Note to self: When
comparing two buildbot versions of Wireshark always diff the contents of the
build information!)
The use of GTK+ 2.12.0, with GLib 2.14.1 appears to be what has spawned the
crashes in the current Buildbot versions of Wireshark.
Release Version: 0.99.6a (SVN Rev 22276)
Status: ok
When: ~2007-07-09
Compiled with GTK+ 2.10.12, with GLib 2.12.12
Buildbot Version: 0.99.7-SVN-22767
Status: ok
When: ~2007-09-02
Compiled with GTK+ 2.10.14, with GLib 2.12.13
Buildbot Version: 0.99.7-SVN-23034
Status: crashes
When: ~2007-09-30
Compiled with GTK+ 2.12.0, with GLib 2.14.1
and up to today....
Buildbot Version: 0.99.7-SVN-23186
Status: crashes
When: ~2007-10-15
Compiled with GTK+ 2.12.0, with GLib 2.14.1
Now the question...
Is this a new defect introduced in GTK+ 2.12.0, with GLib 2.14.1 or a latent
bug in Wireshark that perhaps depended on unspecified behavior of the previous
GTK+ and Glibs?
Thanks,
Jim Y.
