I completely agree that the cleanst solution is to assign a new DLT and use an
additional header field for the direction. However, the existing DLT will not
be much useful as it is, so why not try to make the best of it by applying the
proposed patch? - if libpcap does not add the direction flag, the dissection
will still work exactly as good/bad as it does today.
But I think it is also ok to assign a new DLT with an addtional header for the
direction if this what you prefer for libpcap - then we would just have two
solutions.
