Yes, it affects the text entries to the right of the "Filter:" buttons.
Here are some details of my build from the "Help|About Wireshark" box:
Compiled without PortAudio, with GTK+ 2.4.9, with GLib 2.4.6,
with libpcap 0.8.3, with libz 1.2.1, without libpcre,
without UCD-SNMP or Net-SNMP, without ADNS, without Lua, with GnuTLS 1.0.13,
with Gcrypt 1.2.0, without Kerberos.
I'm not sure when this stopped working. Colour syntax hightlighting works OK
in other areas, e.g. the main display filter control, the controls in the
colour rules dialog, SIP statistics filter... I just noticed that it also
doesn't work in filter control in the File open dialog.
When I find time I can try to narrow down which gtk call is responsible for
breaking this feature.
