Hi,
I went to edit->preferences and didn't see frame, however, I assumed you
meant to select a protocol. To my surprise, DOCSIS wasn't an option.
Did I do something wrong ? DOCSIS is only an option at Analyze->"Enabled
Protocols". I looked at both Wireshark and Ethereal. Am I missing
something ? Any idea why Capture->options->"Link-layer header type" is
grayed out ?

Thanks,
Cliff.

Hi,
Have you tried:
Edit->preferences->frame "Treat all frames as DOCSIS"?

Hi,
Here is a summary of where I'm at:
1. I have Wireshark 0.99.1pre1 installed.
2. I have WinPcap 4.0alpha1 installed.
3. Still no access to the grayed out box Link-layer header type capture
options (Wireshark user manual instructs to select DOCSIS here. Defaults
to Ethernet).
4. Still no decoding of Docsis frames. I tried the docsis frames with
and without the 6 byte MAC Header.

Please continue to assist.

Thanks,
Cliff.

Hi,
Why don't you try wireshark which is a succession of the ethereal?
You can download the analyser at the website
http://www.wireshark.org/
