Agree on the Mr macro mickey soft hurting by helping too much. Thats why I'm trying to get Redhat to do some thing I want it to do.... Then don't run a Mickysoft OS. Take a Linux LiveCD or something, that
doesn't have to run any process generating network traffic. You can even
have an unconfigured interface and bring that up to sniff on.

The intent is not to allow monitor system traffic to add time delays to a
network. As small as they may be.
Filters just prevent the display of the traffic to the user,
