Hi Guy,
The
Ethereal version I use in Windows is the 0.10.10, probably thats too, as you
says and that could be the problem.
I
have tipped tethereal v to see the
version:
Tethereal
0.10.11
Compiled with Glib 2.6.4, with libcap 0.8.3 with libz
1.2.2, with libcre 5.0, without UCD-SNMP or Net-SNMP with ADNS.
Running with libpcap version 0.8.3 on linux
2.6.11
I
want to obtain some statistics of a Wlan-trace, so I installed Kn oppix 3.9 on
my hard disk to be able to use tethereal. I think the best think I could do is
to install another version of tethereal, do you know if there is a tethereal
packet, which I could download and install in Knoppix 3.9? Or do you think is
it better to remove Knoppix and to install another distribution of Linux? In
that case, which one?
Another question, maybe you know which command I have
to use to display the pacet lenght of every packet? Is it posible with
tethereal z proto,colinfo,frame.pkt_len,frame.pkt_len
?
Thank you really for your
help.Regards,
Débora.

What version of Tethereal are you
using? (What does "tethereal -v" print?)
None of the recent releases
appear to have that assertion on line 1487
of the epan/proto.c source
file, so you might be using an old release.
That message means
there's a bug in Ethereal. That bug might have been
fixed in a later
release.
If you're running a release earlier than 0.10.14, try
installing 0.10.14
(unless you're running Windows, as you might have a
problem if your
system is configured with Spanish as its main language
and the Spanish
translation of the names for the "Directories and
Settings", or whatever
it's called, or "Application Data" have accented
letters in them; in
that case, if you're running a release earlier than
0.10.13, try
0.10.13).
