"Multi-threaded" in what sense?
"Multi-threaded" isn't, in and of itself, a useful goal, unless you can get more than one thread doing something useful at the same time.
Ethereal doesn't support more than one open capture file, so it can't work on two files at once, so you can't have more than one thread working on a file. 

What sort of multi-threading are you thinking of?
