Hi all,
during the last week I found a bunch of problems especially with the command line I would like to report here. May be someone can report those as bugs (I haven't dealt with the bug reporting yet). May be some are only my faults ;-)

- ethereal does not start capturing without the -Q option

    ethereal -w cap -a filesize:1000 -i \Device\NPF_{6A953F82-A5FB-4AAA-BD6E-F772A28E3C79} -Q
  starts capturing

    ethereal -w cap -a filesize:1000 -i \Device\NPF_{6A953F82-A5FB-4AAA-BD6E-F772A28E3C79}
  does not start capturing automatically

- ethereal does not exit after capturing when using the -Q option

    ethereal -w cap -a filesize:1000 -i \Device\NPF_{6A953F82-A5FB-4AAA-BD6E-F772A28E3C79} -Q

  ethereal stays open after capturing has finished

- ethereal and tethereal use different numbers for the -a filesize option
  ethereal uses bytes tethereal uses kilobytes

      tethereal -w cap -a filesize:10  -i \Device\NPF_{6A953F82-A5FB-4AAA-BD6E-F772A28E3C79}
      27/Oct/05  13:10            10.122 cap

      ethereal -w cap -a filesize:10000  -i \Device\NPF_{6A953F82-A5FB-4AAA-BD6E-F772A28E3C79} -Q
      27/Oct/05  13:13            10.722 cap

- the option -B (Windows only) should be available on tethereal (capturing Gigabit with default buffer 1MB is too low 80MB is a good value)

- tethereal does not stop capturing with -a files:x when the x file is reached

      tethereal -w cap -a filesize:1 -a files:2 -i \Device\NPF_{6A953F82-A5FB-4AAA-BD6E-F772A28E3C79}
      27/Oct/05  13:19             1.094 cap_00001_20051027131927
      27/Oct/05  13:19             1.100 cap_00001_20051027131931
      27/Oct/05  13:19             1.190 cap_00001_20051027131932
      27/Oct/05  13:19             1.155 cap_00001_20051027131933
      27/Oct/05  13:19             1.070 cap_00001_20051027131937
      27/Oct/05  13:19             1.018 cap_00001_20051027131938
   capturing forever

- ethereal checks the Ring Buffer Option -b files:2 when using the -a files:5

      ethereal -w cap -a filesize:10000 -a files:5 -i \Device\NPF_{6A953F82-A5FB-4AAA-BD6E-F772A28E3C79}

   when opening the capture window the checkbox Ring buffer with 2 files is checked

- ethereal vertical scroll bar in summary window not updated after capturing with update packets in realtime and active capturing dialog. After resizing the scrollbar is updated.

(I found this to be a known issue in the release notes.)

It would be nice if someone could confirm and report those as bugs.

Thanks

Juergen
