I use "-R" all the time with Ethereal, though not with "frame" related filters. I just tried it again (to make sure) with 0.10.12, and sure enough, my typical use (e.g., "-R m3ua") worked well.

However, using your filter didn't work. I suppose it's related to the fact that "frame" is the top level "dissector" and is therefor somehow special.

Interesting. Especially since the 'frame.*' selectors work just fine
once ethereal is running.

I noticed that, too.

Hmmm, what's the convention for reporting bugs? Should I send something
to the devel list first, or just create a new bug?

A good portion of the developers are also on the -users list, so there's probably no need to send this over to -dev. Since nobody's spoken up on this (then again, it's August), I'd say (not that I'm an authority, of course!) just submit a bug so nobody forgets about it.
